Brick Kiln Slaves

Most people don't know that there are over 4.8 million slaves in Pakistan. Of which, there are a disproportionate amount of non-Muslims. Many are Christians. Most of these slaves work for a land owner that has loaned their family money, and when they couldn't pay, they were forced into being bondservants, like at brick kilns.

If they were treated justly, they would get a wage that would make it so they could pay of their debt, even a little at a time. But they are given only enough to make sure they can eat. This leaves many of them slaves for their lifetime and generations after. The only way they can get free is if someone were to pay the debt for them.

Most slaves are not treated with respect or dignity, they are often sexually abused or beaten for not making their quota. The children have to work as soon as they can pick up a brick, and will also get beaten, often getting their bones broken from it.

Since meeting Adil, we took on the role of supporting him in his ministry to a group of these slaves in Pakistan. We have helped to feed them, and have even received support to set two families free! Both of these families were born into slavery. And the elders of the slaves, say that they don't celebrate regular holidays with much rejoicing, but they rejoice on the days when one family has been set free, for it gives them hope that they may be rescued.

We don't stop with just buying their freedom, we also make sure there is enough money to support them for a month, get them shelter, food, bedding and cooking utensils. And we even buy enough produce and a stall for them to be able to start a business.

The Vision

The vision is to buy land in Pakistan and start a farming community. One that can sustain believers that can't find work, have come out of slavery, and that can support a community. While teaching them godly principles, business principles, and skills to thrive and grow in their country. Then multiply!

If you want to support the slaves, or set them free (to buy a family's freedom and get them started in life, estimate between $4-7,000. Some of their debts are higher)
